We think that rocks, but we’re willing to take it one step further. When you add a new link or update our existing links, we’ll give you PlasticClassifieds.com credits that add up to free membership upgrades. That’s right, we’re giving you tons of benefits that you’d normally pay for because we think you deserve it. Here’s how it works.
You get a credit for each link you add to the database that includes the basic information and categories, along with the primary email contact for that site so that we can let them know that we’ve linked to them here. If you update an existing link someone else entered with the location information that we don’t already have, you also get a credit.
The same goes for events. You get a credit for each complete event you add, as well as credit when you update an event someone else entered with contact and location information. It all adds up to free membership upgrades. Just take a look at the chart below to see all the goodies you’ll get, and the number of credits for to reach each new level.
Why is location and contact information important?
You probably noticed the Welcome map on the home page as well as your member home page, and you might have also seen that for links in our databases with addresses, we provide full mapping and weather information, along with directions. When you enter an address, city, state and zip to our links or events, they immediately show up in all our map and weather gadgets, so everyone can see what’s near them.
The email address is also important, since we want the owner of the site to know that we have them listed here. Dealers can put together special group buy pricing for our members, clubs and event providers are able to come here to tell you about their latest gatherings, and all the other plastic model related sites will know that there is a large group of kindred spirits here that they’ll want to meet. It all adds up to a better experience for our members.
Can I Add My Friend’s Site?
As long as it’s plastic model related, absolutely! We want to help out the other web sites in the community, so not only do we encourage you to link to all the cool sites you know of, we even have free web site content that they can add to help build up their site and get more visitors. We’re all about helping the community, and even though it makes them work harder, the rabbits in the server room couldn’t be happier.
The Not So Fine Print
Naturally, we want to keep the links relevant and the quality high, so we just want to remind everyone that we do keep an eye on our database, and we validate the entries before contacting the site owner (and please make sure you only use their public contact email that they’ve provided for this purpose). Of course, we want you to build up your credit count, but we’re not above rapping the ill behaved on the knuckles with a ruler if it’s called for.
Specifically, if someone reports a link you’ve added or edited as inappropriate, we’ll whack 10 credits off your total. Yep. Just like that. If it happens enough to indicate a problem, we’ll disqualify the offending party from free upgrades altogether. The rabbits find this shocking and harsh, but hey, you gotta draw the line somewhere for the greater good. So remember, play nice!
